It’s a long day living in reseda , there’s a freeway runnin’ through the yard
Recently, while the Baby was off at a birthday party, the Kid and I had some Mommy+son bonding time and we went to...the Westside Pavilion. Damn that place sucks. It's sucked for years and it still does. The only notable thing about that place is that Tom Petty shot 'Free Fallin' there 20 years ago.
ANYWAY, the reason we went was to see a recently opened a store called 'Scribble Press'. There you can draw your own book and they print and bind it for you and everything. When I told him that, his eyes lit up. This boy takes after me, he loves to draw. It's a great little place, with lots of art tables lined up - you choose your book's theme and can take all the time you like. Lord, I nearly fainted at the sight of this:
ALL THE WORLD'S SHARPIES AT YOUR FINGERTIPS. I was in heaven. But we weren't there for me, we were there for him. And he surprised me. I didn't know if at 4-1/2 he'd be able to understand and draw six pages of a book, and he did. All on his own, fairly easily.
He fully comprehended what he was supposed to draw on each page, mapped out what he wanted to do, and at the end we had a full book!
It was a good experience, that I'm sure we will do again. He seems like such a big Kid now, he doesn't need my help. ~weepy~ It's nice to see him really enjoy doing something. Makes me wonder if he'll have a future in art. Or at least a future in pen sales.

going through all of the catalogs of stuff we could stock for our store, one of the most fun things is looking at all the different marker displays. some of them are insane.
What a totally cool concept and idea for kids (and adults!).
I'm with Sizzle! I want an adult version! Wait, not an adult version. You know what I mean...
That's kind of the best story ever!
Yup...Westside Pavilion=major suckage. Blech. That is a cool store though and adults can totally do books too. I almost did something there. Until I looked at the prices. Nope.
The other saving grace of that retched mall is the anime store way at the far end. THAT's where I spent money.
Aahhhhhhhhh!
Take me with you next time, alright?
whoa! his drawings really are pretty good - that one on the right, is it a goat? monkey? it's cute as!
