Michael Scott:Why don't you grow something that everybody likes? You should grow candy! I'd love a piece of candy right now... not a beet.
In Los Angeles the weather is near perfect right now which means Farmer's Markets are in full effect, yo. The produce is extraordinary right now and I can't stop myself from stopping by and stocking up.
Last week I took the Kid with me and let him loose with the camera:

Doesn't the produce look amazing? I don't know what the deal with that last stacked posed fruit photo, but ok...
The amount of farmer's who commented on how 'cute' the Kid was and then gave him FREE fruit, was crazy! I got more stuff for free, than I actually bought. I gotta sign that Kid up for supermodel classes.
I took the haul home and made a complete Farmer's Market dinner. The tangerines were super sweet and just fell out of their peels. The strawberries were absolutely HUGE and sweet, let me tell you - the two don't always go hand in hand. I made up some fresh guac and then roasted some corn.
Yes, the lack of meat was noted by the Baby so I threw some ham on his plate. Like a zoo animal, RARR. Other than that the kids ATE. IT. UP. They loved all the fresh fruits and veggies and even ate 1-1/2 ears of corn each, which is a ton for two tiny bodies.
I'll keep doing this fresh fruit and veggie meal once a week - mostly because it's so easy, no planning required. Who knows what free stuff we'll get next week. Just remember Kid, looks aren't everything - but we could really use some oranges...
Oven Roasted Corn recipe, here.

Oh how I miss those California strawberries--and all the other fruit. Seeing those pics just makes me want to pack up and move back. Oh well, I'll just have to make do with seeing your pictures.
